The bibliographic instruction program is designed to provide a basic introduction to the resources available at the University of Macedonia. The program is intended only for the students of the University. The attendance at the courses is obligatory to the first and second year undergraduate students and the first year postgraduates. The first year undergraduate students have to attend a two-hour course about general orientation into the library, library services, online catalog and search strategy for simple queries and finally how to use effectively call number systems used by the library. The second year undergraduate students also attend a two-hour course about Boolean operators, complicated search strategies, subject bibliographic databases and usage of various retrieval systems. Finally, first year postgraduate students attend two courses, which include Boolean operators, subject bibliographic and full-text databases, Internet search engines, and how to evaluate Internet resources. The program of bibliographic instruction is now under revision. Three goals have to be achieved:

1) The integration of the bibliographic instruction program in the academic program of the University departments. 2) Organization of a B.I. laboratory in the library. 3) The extension and specialization of the program in specific departments, courses and group of users.
